Thank You Dad

When you have something forever you don’t truly appreciate it

It has happened so long you sort of expect it

Then one day, it is gone

And you realize you were completely wrong

That you have taken for granite someone who held you so dear

But you just brushed him off when he was near

“You work too much, you never have time”

Like putting food on your table was some sort of crime

Like every moment he didn’t want to be with you

How this statement couldn't be more untrue

Just hopefully you see this before it is too late

And you can cancel out all acts of hate

And show your dad all the love you can show

Because I just want him to know

That I do truly love him, even though I may not show it

I just want you to know it

I see now the sacrifices you have made

Because your love for me over all else outweighed 

Thank you dad for all you have done for me

I’m sorry it took me so long to see
