Crippled Dreams

Dreams, they're a crazy thing

Sometimes there is nothing quite so frightening

Pouring your soul into this one desire

Burning fiercely inside like a fire

The only thing on your mind

The dream that you hope you might find

You want it so bad it's got you paralyzed

Because failure is an option you've just realized

Afraid that you may fail, afraid that you may fall

Pour out your soul, just to lose it all

Then you look at the other side of the spectrum

What may happen if success does come

What if it doesn't live up to your expectation

This thing that you have poured your life in

The dream that haunts your sleep

The dream that you've kept so deep

The dream your lips mutter and eyes scream

With each breath you breath this dream

You pray for this dream alone

Like it is the only thing you've ever known

Each thought is consumed

To this dream you've become its groom

But the fear of failure and the fear of success

Has crippled you from putting this dream to the test

The fear that they may not accept

That this dream they may reject

That you may be outcasted

And see this dream never lasted

So you hold onto this dream

Never to see what it could have redeemed

You're dreams speak no words to hear

Because you have been crippled by fear
